Student Outreach Programs

• Academic WorldQuest- This program is sponsored by the World Affairs Council of America.  While it is an optional program for the various World Affairs Councils to participate in, WACHH opted to join in 2012 and today this program is operating in all six of the Beaufort County High Schools.  We have been pleased with the participation by the schools and it is particularly rewarding to watch these young students invest the time necessary to compete locally and nationally.  

• Model UN- Since 2012, this international program with local participation by Beaufort County students has been supported by the World Affairs Council of Hilton Head. Initially, the Council helped pay a portion of the student fees for attending a regional Model UN Conference. Thanks to the global expertise and commitment of Council members, in 2017, we added an opportunity for members to share their country knowledge in the classroom. The Council supports Model UN programs at four public schools (Beaufort HS, Bluffton HS, Hilton Head HS, May River HS), as well as MUN programs at Hilton Head Preparatory School and John Paul 11 Catholic School. For 2021-2022, we are taking our support up a few notches thanks to your willingness to mentor these young students on the nuances of the countries that they have been assigned as their focus.  This is clearly a new venture that we are excited about and are thankful to all of you who have volunteered to be Mentors.
