Director Claudia Kennedy has been on the WAC Hilton Head board of directors since 2012. On the board she oversees all the in-reach programs for the Board, including the Summer Forum, the Evening Speaker Series, the Fall Forum, and the Great Decisions Discussion Program. She previously served on the Program Committee. Claudia’s interest in world affairs began early.
As a daughter of a career Army officer, she lived and observed post-War conditions in Germany, Japan, Israel and traveled extensively in Europe in the 1950’s and 1960’s. As a career Army officer herself, Claudia lived in Germany, South Korea and throughout the US.
She retired from the US Army after 32 years, working in intelligence and security (analysis, operations management, technology transfer, foreign language training), recruiting and training.
Since 2000, she has served on the boards of Population Action International, Opportunity International, Volunteers of America, Third Way, American Security Project, Mitchelvillle Preservation Project, and has maintained ties with the Lowcountry Immigration Coalition and the Hilton Head Humane Association.
Walmart, Inc, and Essex Corporation were consulting opportunities for a number of years. The memoir of her career, “Generally Speaking”, was published in September 2001. Its last chapter provided some insight into the future that began to unfold the week the book was delivered to stores.
She and her husband, Harold Hadley, a dual U.S. and Canadian citizen, celebrate 14 years of marriage this fall.
