Meetings & Events

Regular Speaker Meetings are held on the first and third Fridays of each month – October through May – except for December when we meet on the first Friday only.  Meetings are held at the First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island (map).

Members and guests are invited to enjoy coffee while visiting with friends at “He Brews,” the Church coffee shop (open at 9 am), but are asked to be seated in the Sanctuary well before 10:00.

The featured speaker’s presentation begins promptly at 10:00 AM. Members are invited to engage in the Question and Answer period with the speaker immediately after the talk. The meetings are adjourned at 11:30 AM.

We are pleased to welcome guests for a nominal fee. If you notify our Administrative Director at wachhi@gmail.com, or  call 843-422-1442, your guest’s name tag will be at the Membership Desk.

Community Education Outreach

The Education Outreach Committee’s mission is to extend the World Affairs Council’s programs beyond its membership and into the community to provide:

  • Seminars for local public and private high school International Baccalaureate students; and sponsorship of the Academic WorldQuest competition among students in Beaufort County high schools.
  • Summer and Fall Forums to focus on reviews of literature and topics of U.S. global concerns presented in three  lectures by Council members and open to the public.
  • Opportunities for expert participation and  leadership support  from among Council members and peers.
