Jeff Stokes graduated from the State University of New York at Albany in 1972 and then went on to receive a MAT from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1975. He spent the next 37 years in Education, first as a history and social studies teacher and then as an administrator. He served as a History Department Chair, Dean of Students and Director of Studies at Phoenix Country Day School before being appointed Headmaster of Southfield School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1990, a position he held for 23 years.
Jeff retired to Indigo Run on Hilton Head in 2013, where he and his wife Kathleen have had family connections for almost 40 years. In addition to membership on the Program Committee he is active in our Great Decisions program and now serves as one of the group discussion facilitators. He has also taught in the Osher Institute and is currently assisting the Heritage Library in their fundraising efforts.
