Lynne HummellLynne Cope Hummell, Editor, The Bluffton Sun and The Hilton Head Sun

Lynne Cope Hummell is the editor of The Bluffton Sun and The Hilton Head Sun, two independently owned community newspapers. She previously was a special sections editor at The Island Packet, and served four years in as community relations director for a local nonprofit organization.

A native of South Carolina, Lynne earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, her home town. She moved to Hilton Head Island in 1984 and has never regretted that decision. Her most recent volunteer efforts are focused on helping teach a journalism class at Allendale Correctional Institution. The mother of two grown boys, both of whom are incredibly tech savvy, Lynne was dragged kicking and screaming into the world of social media at their insistence in 2009. Her artist husband, Amos Hummell, is her wing man in this new world of mass communication.
