Director Ian W. Murray was elected to the position of Vice President of the World Affairs Council on January 19, 2012. He has served on the Board of Directors since July of 2008, with responsibility for Communications, Marketing and Development.
His marketing career included service with Canadian Industries Limited, McConnell Advertising Ltd as Partner and Managing Director, and Imasco Ltd (B.A.T.) as V.P. and Director. Subsequently he served as President and CEO of S & W Fine Foods, San Francisco, Standard Brands Foods in New York, Libby McNeil & Libby, Chicago, and Chairman, President and CEO of Nestle Enterprises Ltd, Canada.
He was a founding director of the National Institute of Health in Canada and a Director of L’Oreal Cosmetics and Alcon Pharmaceuticals Canada. He also chaired the Board of Governors of the University of Guelph.
Since his retirement to Hilton Head Is., Ian has served as a Director with a number of prominent corporations and served as Chairman of the Coastal Discovery Museum during the period when a long term lease was negotiated for the Honey Horn property and development plans were established.
Ian was born in Ottawa Canada, and graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Economics. He and his wife, Mary, have lived on Hilton Head Island since 1994.
