John Lang, Treasurer

John Lang spent 18 years with Aetna Life and Casualty in Hartford, CT where his final position was Vice-President and Treasurer.  He took early retirement from Aetna to become a Managing Director, Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch where he focused on the insurance industry. In 1991 he formed, and became President and CEO of Lang Capital Associates Inc., a firm concentrated on the funding of new enterprises and providing direction to merger and acquisition activities.
 
In 2014 he was selected to serve as Executive Chairman of Protect Our Power, Inc and Protect Our Power Institute, an advocacy corporation formed to provide resiliency and security support for the national electric grid.  He retired in 2021.

John and his wife, Carol, moved to Hilton Head Island in 2009. He has been a member of the World Affairs Council of Hilton Head since 2012 and has served on the Development Committee. He has also been heavily involved with social outreach efforts supporting childcare and food security and has served on the Greater Island Council, the Board of the Hilton Head Symphony, the VanLandingham Rotary Club and as Commodore of the Yacht Club of Hilton Head.
 
John holds a BA from Southern Connecticut State University,  a MS in Finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, a MA in Moral Philosophy from Albertus Magnus College, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Theology and Ethics from the Hartford Seminary, and a D.Litt. in Moral Philosophy from Drew University.
