PAUL MOERI
Paul Moeri brings over three decades of international business leadership to the Board of the World Affairs Council of Hilton Head. He spent seven years of early childhood in South Africa and 28 years living and working abroad, managing financial operations for major US multinationals across five continents, giving him firsthand insight into the economic, cultural, and political dynamics of those regions. Paul's career spanned senior finance and controller roles with ExxonMobil, Mobil Oil, Tenneco, and Halliburton, taking him to Colombia, Nigeria, Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore, and Bahrain, among other postings. As Business Services Manager for ExxonMobil's Caribbean, Central and Latin America, he was responsible for in-country Contoller, Treasurers and Tax functions across 29 countries, and as Accounting & Finance Manager for West Africa, he implemented rigorous financial controls across five countries during a period of significant operational, control and governance challenges. Throughout his career he was always balancing corporate objectives with the realities of local markets and legal environments of local affiliates while maintaining an unwavering commitment to safety, integrity, teamwork, and shareholder value. Paul holds an MBA from Loyola University New Orleans and Bachelor's degrees in Accountancy and Business Administration from the University of Houston. He was a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas. Since retiring to Hilton Head, Paul has remained deeply engaged in community leadership, serving as Board Member and Treasurer (and later President) of his Community POA, as well as Board Member and Treasurer for the Symphony Orchestra, Volunteers in Medicine, and Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. Paul and Holly have been married 51 years and they have three children, one in every time zone, and two grandchildren. . |
