LYNN CORDYLynn Cordy’s interest in World Affairs was sparked in high school in upstate NY when her school participated in the AFS exchange program. Her family hosted a young man from Singapore for a school year. He eventually retired from a career at the United Nations. She herself was an exchange student to Denmark via The Experiment in International Living, now known as World Learning. With her husband, Tom, they have hosted multiple AFS students and served as chair of the Champlain Valley AFS chapter. Lynn retired after 36 years as a NYS public school educator. She has served as a school librarian and then moved into staff development as Director of the North Country Teacher Resource Center and retired as Director of the Dutchess County School Library System. She earned a BS from State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo, a Masters in Student Personnel from SUNY Albany and an administrator certification from SUNY Plattsburgh. A resident of Bluffton since 2010, she has volunteered with Family Promise of Beaufort County and served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church. Participating in Fall Forum, Great Decisions, and the WAC Book Club “feed” her need to be a lifelong learner.
